My Review:

I came across the e.l.f. cosmetics brand for the first time during the christmas holiday. I was browsing the cosmetics aisle, and I couldn't help but notice the attractive packaging and the exceptional price of the product. I remembered hearing about e.l.f. in a makeup tutorial on youtube. I felt I had nothing to lose. I wanted to give this brand a try. I have tried many cosmetic brands over the years. Ranging from high to low end. Some of the high end cosmetic brands didn't appeal to me. I purched about $20.00 worth of e.l.f. cosmetics for the first time. I was confident in the product. It was well packaged. It wasn't expensive. It was very affordable. It may have been cheap but it didn't look cheap. I was excited. I took the products home and I tried each and every product out. Some I liked. Some I didn't like. You'll soon discover how I feel about each product in future reviews. Feel free to check out previous reviews in prior posts.

The 'e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip Gloss SPF 15' is a very cute little tube. It was only $1.00 each. I am in love with this gloss. The packaging doesn't look cheap. The tube was completely full of gloss. It smells very sweet. It takes delicious. It's a little sticky but if applied correctly it really is a great product! I purchased five so far. I'm definately going to purchase more. A little goes a long ways. You do not need to squeeze very much out of the tube onto your lips. The color is great. However, as I have said before in previous reviews, e.l.f. cosmetics vary from how they look in the picture to how they really look when you purchase and/or recieve the product in the mail. The actual colors do not always match the colors in the photographs on the Eyes Lips Face website. Please keep that in mind when purchasing the product online. That is why I post the website photo's and the actual photo's taken by myself together on my blog review posts. I want you to be able to get a good look at the actual product before you purchase this product online. Also, I bought the 'Super Glossy Lip Gloss SPF 15' in 'Pink Kiss' twice. After I purchased it the first time, I went back to Target to purchase more e.l.f. cosmetics that I have not tried yet. I noticed the 'Pink Kiss' but forget that I had previously purchased it already. It looked like a totally different color this time. So, I thought I was purchasing a new gloss that I have not already tried and didn't have. It looked like a really pretty peachy coral color. When I got home I noticed that I had already purchased 'Pink Kiss'. I held the two together and compared their color to each other. I was correct, the colors didn't match. The first 'Pink Kiss' I purchased was a deep almost salmon pink. The second 'Pink Kiss' was a peachy coral pink. I assume it was because the mix didn't turn out correctly from the factory?   But, I'm not disappointed. I like the peachy pink better!  I wear the "Super Glossy Lip Gloss SPF 15' more than any other lip product I own.  I especially love that my lips are protected by the SPF 15 from the sun. This will be a great lip product to wear during the summer!

This month I am sharing with you my January favorites:) This month I have chosen five beauty products that I am loving!!! I use these five products consistently. Their very inexpensive. In my opinion, I don't believe that a person has to spend a lot of money on beauty products that they cannot necessarily afford just to look beautiful. I love mixing high end products that are expensive with low end products that are good quality that are inexpensive. I think it makes wearing makeup more pleasurable and fun! I will be doing reviews on each of the five products I've listed soon.

 My Review:

Copyright: BehindTheMakeupEC 2012

I purchased this product at my local Walmart store. I was looking for a good quality cold medicine for my father. I was in the medicine aisle near the pharmacy. I saw this Blistex product. It was only $1.97. It was a new product by Blistex. You get 2 balms. It was nicely packaged. I have always really liked Blistex products. I had to have it. So, I bought it.

The white jar is the, Blistex 'Revive'. It's for day use. It has SPF 15. It contains shea butter ad fruit extracts. It smells kind of minty. It's very light and sheer. It tastes delicious. It feels like you have nothing on your lips. Although, you know it's there. I like that. I don't like heavy lip products on my lips.

As for the blue jar, it's the, Blistex "Restore". This is for night use. This is going to restore your lips all night making them soft, healthy, and radiant! It contains phyto-nutrients and Vitamin E. This balm is a little more creamy and thicker. It smells fruity. It taste delicious on your lips.

If your looking for a great balm to carry in your purse, I recommend purchasing; 'Blistex Revive & Restore Lip Protectant/Sunscreen'. It's very inexpensive. Your getting a lot of product for only $1.97. In a single jar, the product will last for probably more than a month or two. If your using it everyday!

If your unfamilar with phyto-nutrients, then keep reading because phyto-nutrients are excellent for you!

Phyto-nutrients are nutrients derived from plant material that have been shown to be necessary for sustaining human life. Phyto-chemicals are non nutritive plant chemicals that contain protective, disease-preventing, compounds. Their role in plants is to protect plants from disease, injuries, insects, drought, excessive heat, ultraviolet rays, and poisons or pollutants in the air or soil. They form part of the plants immune system.

Although phytochemicals are not yet classified as nutrients, substances necessary for sustaining life, they have been identified as containing properties for aiding in disease prevention. Phytochemicals are associated with the prevention and/or treatment of at least four of the leading causes of death in Western countries - cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. They are involved in many processes including ones that help prevent cell damage, prevent cancer cell replication, and decrease cholesterol levels.

My Review:

The 'Natural' palette is a beautiful palette ranging from light to dark shades of brown. It includes one white highlight color but you can also use the lighter shade of brown below the white in the bottom row, as a highlight as well. You can create many looks with this palette, even a beautiful smokey eye! I bought this palette at my local Target store. It is a limited edition palette from the 'Silver Box' collection from e.l.f.. I liked the 'Smoky' palette so much that I had to have the natural palette as well. It was only $3.00. Like the 'Smoky' palette, you can use these shadows wet or dry. I have swatched the colors for you. In the photo's marked with an 'A' those are photo's from the top row of the palette. In the photo's marked with a 'B' those photo's are swatches of the bottom row of the palette. The shadow pigmentation is alright. The lighter colors of the palette are kind of sheer. But, the darker shadows are very pigmented. The colors blend well together! The applicator brush that comes with the palette is very small and the bristles are quite stiff. So, I would suggest that you use an eyeshadow brush. You could use your fingers to apply the eyeshadow but, I find that brushes do a much better job at applying the eyeshadow while creating a beautiful flawless look. I really like the packaging of this product. I love the sleek black case that eyeshadow comes in. The case includes a mirror underneath the lid cover located at the top. It's great for on the go, when you want to check your makeup, especially your eyes. Sometimes, my eyes get very watery when I'm out in the wind and I start to rub my eyes. I try not to if I can help it because I don't want to smear my eyeliner and get it all over my eyelid, messing up my eyeshadow. The case is a little bit tricky and/or difficult to open. Be careful not to drop the palette while trying to open the case. The case is compact. It'll easily fit into your purse for on the go and/or traveling. The eyeshadows lasted all day. Before applying the eyeshadows, I used the 'e.l.f. Eyelid Primer' in 'Sheer'. The shadows didn't crease.

The above photo is a swatch of the top
row of colors in the palette. The first color,
is a beautiful sheer milky white cream color.
The second shade is like a sheer pinky purple
color. Lastly, the last top color pot is a deep
purple shade. It's sheer as well but like the
other sheer colors if you apply it well and
blend the colors well, you will have a beautiful
smoky look. You can create multiple looks with
this palette!

Below is a swatch of the palette.
It's the bottom row. The first color
is a grey sand color with shimmer.
The second color is a deep charcoal
color with shimmer. Lastly, the last
color is a gorgeous deep black color
with shimmer that I named, 'Starry Night'.
The black, "Starry Night' pot is what
originally caught my eye and I knew
immediately that I had to have this
palette for the black, 'Starry Night' color
alone!

I was shopping in my local Target before x-mas. I walking by an end cap in the beauty section. The end cap displayed E.L.F. Cosmetic 'Essential Silver Box Limited Edition' sets. The deep black, 'Starry Night' pot was the last shade in the palette and the first and only shade that caught my eye. Immediately, I stopped. I picked up the silver box and looked in total 'aw' at this gorgeous shade! It has a touch of shimmer. It was love at first sight. I had to have this palette. It's not everyday that you come across an eyeshadow like this shade. It was too good to pass up! This shade is a winner! It's the perfect shade for a glamorous evening look! You can also create a glamorous look for the day time, but, I mostly wanted this black for night time use. I looked over the rest of the palette. The entire palette is gorgeous. It has just the right colors to make a really nice smokey eye. I bought the palette. It was only $3.00. Very inexpensive price for a gorgeous well packaged eyeshadow palette. I love the sleek black packaging of the palette case. The case is a little bit difficult to open. You have to really be careful not to drop the palette trying to open it. That is my only complaint. It makes a great 'on the go' product. It fits easily in your purse and makeup bag. Very compact. It comes with tiny applicator brush. But, I would not recommend using the applicator brush to apply the product. It's too small. The brush bristles are too stiff. I would use your normal everyday eyeshadow brush. The eyeshadow blends nicely. The colors show up, even though they are sheer. I think the shadows create a more natural look being sheer. It's not too intense. You don't need to apply too much shadow to get the colors to show up on your eye lid. I used the 'E.L.F. Eyelid Primer' in 'Sheer' before I applied the eye shadows. The eye shadows lasted all day long. The shadows didn't crease.
